My first exam was finished 2 days ago!! woot woot!

I’m not so sure exactly how it is actually gonna turn out though (God have mercy on me..), but i’m just sooo happy that it’s over!!

There are other things that are finished as well for this semester. For example, my radio shift at NTU’s very own Radio Fusion.

I’m quite bummed about it.. I really enjoyed playing songs in the radio, songs that are not “mainstream” (been playing a lot of spanish songs in my sessions). Talking nonsense, practicing my English (not Singlish, ), plus chilling in a very cold place while everyone else around the canteen is sweaty and smelly. HAHA. FYI: the aircon inside the radio booth is on for 24 hours. Yes people, 24 hours! Apparently those equipments are expensive and are sensitive to heat. (wow, they’re like me, lol lol)

I hope nobody saw me from outside the booth when I was taking these pictures. LOL

Some of my classes are also over.. Like natural hazards and disaster. Something funny happened today. My lecturer was already talking in front of the lecture theater when this random dude in PIKACHU (yep, pikachu) costume strolled in and drew everyone’s attention to him. My lecturer, Kerry, said to him, “are you dressed up as a cow? would you like to say a few words?” The guy went and took the mic from Kerry and said, “pika pika”. Aaaand Kerry looked very confused. LOL.  Obviously pokemon is not that famous in the US. Later on when another lecturer, Andreas, was teaching his part in front, Kerry took a picture of the pikachu dude, and Andreas suddenly said, “Pikachu, behave.” HAHAHA! Now that’s a line I never thought I’d hear in a class!

Maybe I should dress up to school too one day, but as what? hmmm.. any ideas? drop them in the comments if you have any..haha.

It takes me sooooooo freaking long just to understand one reaction mechanism, how the molecules rotate, twist, change conformations, and many many more funny stuff that they can do. *stress*

LAST NIGHT IN JAKARTA!

Not forever, buuuuut most probably for this year?

I’ve been having a good time here in this oh-so-crowded capital of Indonesia. Definitely have eaten too much. HAHA. Relaxing at home..Sleeping 10 hours per day.. Don’t get me wrong, I did my assignment too while I’m here, so at least I can say I didn’t just have fun.

I’ve packed my bags to return to sunny-but-hazy Singapore tomorrow.. Not really looking forward to it though.

Not long ago, I had a special “bond” with him but is all over now. I somehow knew deep deep deeeep inside that we wouldn’t last that long anyway, still, I didn’t expect for us to be over this soon.

Anyway, it’s not the main topic of this post. I just want to share some of his views towards faith and God.

Okay.

We have very different views towards God. He is an atheist, and I believe in God with all my heart. He said to me, “I’m sorry but I just can’t believe in God. I can pray and meditate,  but I can’t believe.” He was brought up that way, since both of his parents are also atheists and they don’t give a damn about religion, or God.

Back then, he said this,” I only believe in people, I believe in my parents, my good friends, people that are close to me..”

That, for me, is completely wrong.  People make mistakes, people can turn their back on you, people, can be very mean. Even those who are very dear to you.

Ironically, X has made my faith in God even stronger. Why? Exactly because what he said. “I only believe in people.” Look at what happened to me. What if I didn’t have any faith when he decided to turn his back on me? I believed in him, and he let me down. If I didn’t have God with me, I would be such a big mess right now.

Having faith in Him, lets you have faith in other people too, but with knowing that you will always have Him by your side even when the person you believe in decides to act stupid and hurt you.

What happens to people that only have faith in other people? What happens if suddenly everyone decides to turn their back against you? Who can you count on then huh?

These are the thoughts that have been flowing inside my brain this past week. They are very subjective so for those who don’t agree with me please don’t be mad, I’m just sharing my point of view.

I’ve been studying for many hours today and I’m feeling soooo bored! Okay I was studying while opening youtube here and there but still my brain is saturated..Kinda feel lonely too studying in the room without no interaction with people at all. Started stoning and thinking about some stuff.

I remembered what my friend said to me.

“Novi, did you know? I read in an article that you can only have two out of four of these options when you are living a university life.” Hmm..That’s new, I thought. So I responded, “Okay, tell me those four things.” He then continued saying these:

1. Enough sleep

2. Good grades

3. Good social life

4. Good love life.

I said to him again, “Really? Only two out of four? That’s interesting.” He said “Yeap.” “And one cannot have a little bit of each?”, asking him curiously. “Nope,” he stated.

Huh? Kinda got me thinking. Which of the four have I had? Or am having this semester?

1. Enough sleep

I guess I do sleep more than most of my friends. I sleep at least 7-8 hours per day. Sometimes even more. I need them though, if not, I can’t function properly. So sue me for this, lol.

2. Good grades

They were quiiite okay for the past few semesters. I don’t dare to say anything about this particular one. *cross fingers*

3. Good social life

I’ve had this one better. This semester, the only times I really go out from NTU were just to buy groceries or go to masses at the church. I don’t go out as much compared to my previous semester(s). I’ve said it in my previous post, that I just don’t feel like doing it anymore as I want to save up money to go to Spain again. For that reason, I don’t hang out with my friends as much. I used to go out almost every week with a number of friends, but these days I hardly see them anymore. People are getting busier and busier, and this goes for me as well.

4. Good love life

Pheeew… I don’t know where to start with this one. Having a boyfriend doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a good love life doesn’t it? Let’s just say..I’m struggling with this one.

There you go. I can’t make up my mind of which two out of the four I currently have. Whatever I have or don’t have, I’m just gonna try and be as grateful as I can be. As every second of my life is a gift from up above, I shouldn’t complain too much should I?

I am not staying with my old roomie from last year, which is quite sad, but I don’t have any problems whatsoever with my current roommate as she is super nice and friendly! Luckily she is also an indonesian like me, thank God I didn’t get someone awful, dirty or smelly, for that matter. I mean, she has a freaking papershredder and a standing steaming iron! LOL

These days I just love staying in and not going out too much. (yeah sounds weird maybe for some of you) A totally different trend from last semester. Somehow I just feel kinda lazy to get going, especially to the crowded city centre of Singapore. I have a few reasons for this though, don’t get me wrong.

1. My room is pretty damn clean and tidy (compared to my last year(s) in NTU)

2. I have bought more interesting books (eg: Criminal Minds, a book about criminal profiling)

3. Last, but the most important thing, I wanna save up my $$$ !! MONEY!

Why you might ask?

Next year I wanna go and do some more spanish in Salamanca! So I want to have some extra money when I’m there. Plus, international calls are expensive and I have to make a lot of them these days.. Not that I’m complaining though, I am well aware of the cost of a long-distance relationship.

I’m not too sad thinking about it, because every time I close my eyes (it’s not necessary though,LOL) and relive the beautiful memories I had there, I just smile super duper widely. That, actually helps me get through my sucky days here.

Here goes another semester in NTU. Quite a number of commitments that I’m taking up.

1. Head of Sports and Recreation Division of Indonesian Students Association in NTU (which includes organizing 2 big events and managing a few sports clubs)

2. The usual stuff, being an athlete (be it volleyball, tennis, or whatever it is) for my hall, school, and country.

3. Subcommittee of my Junior Common Room Commitee in my hall

4. Undergraduate Research Experience on Campus (also widely known as URECA). That is, if I can get a suitable professor to supervise me. URECA is ongoing for 2 semesters. *shivers* Have to do it! I desperately need the experience in the synthetic organic lab!

Not to mention the subjects from my school are not getting easier as the years go by.

Aaah..well. I’m pretty sure I’ll get through all these somehow. There’s always a way and I’m very sure that God will help me along the way like He has always done.
